Описание игры

Konami’s Golf – это, пожалуй, одна из лучших версий гольфа на ZX Spectrum. Игра, разработанная легендарной Konami, издана на «Спектрум» в 1986 году компанией Imagine Software.

Одному или двум игрокам предлагается принять участие в соревнованиях по гольфу. Всего предложено поле на девять лунок, так сказать, сокращенная игра. Каждая лунка размещена на своем участке. Участки различаются местностью, расположением рощи, грунта, травы, ям-бункеров с песком и водных преград. Как и в классическом гольфе, игрок должен наносить удары по мячу с помощью одной из нескольких клюшек. Каждый удар по мячу должен приближать его к лунке. Кто быстрее из игроков забьет мяч – тот и выигрывает. Также в игру можно играть и в одиночку – в этом случае необходимо уложиться в отведенное число ударов для каждой лунки.

Графика игры может поразить воображение, ведь ZX Spectrum обладает довольно специфичной графической подсистемой. Однако в этой игре изображение составлено настолько грамотно, что цветовых артефактов совсем не заметно. Игра выглядит очень динамично. Перед тем, как нанести удар, можно выбрать направление удара, ориентируясь по карте и панораме, которая открывается перед игроком. Для того чтобы повернуться вправо-влево, нужно нажимать клавиши O и P, а для выбора клюшки, а, следовательно, и силы удара – Q и A. После нажатия «пробела» внизу отображается бегущий индикатор. Чем длиннее полоска – тем сильнее получается удар. Выполняя удар, необходимо ориентироваться на указатель силы и направления ветра. Ветер сносит мяч, и последний может полететь совсем не в ту сторону, куда целится игрок.

Цель игры – пройти все девять лунок. После того, как мяч побывает в каждой лунке, игра заканчивается.

holes, par 36, a magnificient rolling course! Care for a game by stroke?
Or would you rather compete in match play? The choice is yours in Konami's
golf game. Stroke by stroke, your true golfing skills will shine, as you
choose the right club for each play and compensate for the wind factor and
the lie of the grass on the greens.

LOADING
=======

1.Place the cassette in your recorder ensuring it is fully rewound.
2.Ensure that the MIC socket is disconnected and that the volume and tone
controls are set to the appropiate levels.
3.If the computer is a Spectrum 48K or Spectrum + then load as follows.
Type LOAD "" (ENTER). (Note there is no space between the two quotes).
The " is obtained by pressing the SYMBOL SHIFT and P keys
simultaneously.
4.Press PLAY on your recorder and the game will load automatically. If
you have any problems try adjusting the volume and tone controls and
consulting Chapter 6 of the Spectrum manual.
5.If the computer is a Spectrum 128K then follow the loading instructions
on-screen or in the accompanying manual.

PLAYING
=======

This game may be played by one or two players and you can control the
action using either your computer keyboard or with a joystick.
Choose either stroke play or match play. In stroke play your score is
based on the total number of strokes you have taken to complete the nine
holes. In match play, each hole is contested separately; the first player
to win five holes is the winner of the game.

Select the type of play you wish to compete in. Position the hand
indicator by using the UP and DOWN keys or by using the joystick up and
down.

After you have selected your type of play press the SPACE BAR of your
computer or the FIRE BUTTON on the joystick to start the game (play is
completed after nine holes).

"OB" - if your ball goes out of bounds, replay it, taking two penalty
strokes. Bunker shots will fly a shorter distance. Do not try to get
out of the rough using a wood.

When two people are playing, the order of play is determined according
to normal golfing rules. On the right hand side of the screen you will
see flashing "1P" or "2P"; the indicated player may make his turn.
Player No. 1 starts first on the first hole of the game. On tee shots,
the player with the best score on the previous hole tees off first.
After the second stroke, the player whose ball is farthest from the pin
goes first. Players are no longer indicated after the second shot.

Either use Kempston or Sinclair joystick.

NOTE

If using a Sinclair Plus 2 computer, the joystick option is selected
automatically when using an Amstrad or Cheetah + joystick.

First determine the type of ball you wish to play. Make your selection
by moving the indicator up and down with UP and DOWN keys as shown,
enter your selection with the shot keys. Next, using the LEFT and RIGHT
keys, determine the direction the ball will fly. Finally before taking
your shot, pick a club using the UP and DOWN keys. The types of clubs
available will be indicated by pressing the UP and DOWN keys; stop at
the indication of the club you wish to use.

Make sure all the preliminary selections are made, then everything is
all set. Keep an eye on the "power meter" at the bottom of your scrren,
and hit the ball by pushing the shot key. You can control the distance
the ball flies by gauging the power level of your stroke.

When you land on the green, your screen will show a view of the green
with your ball in position. The club selection on the green is
automatic, the computer will choose a putter for you. Sink the putt by
pushing the shot keywhile keeping a sharp eye on the power meter.

IMPROVING YOUR TECHNIQUE
========================

. Practice until you have a good feeling for the proper club and the
right amount of power to use.
. Then, start trying to compensate for the windage.
. Be cautious when you are on the green. Learn to read the direction of
the lie of the grass and how "fast" the green is.
. Hole No. 5 offers the chance of a hole-in-one.
