Mig 29 Soviet Fighter – это игра на ZX Spectrum, посвященная одному из лучших советских и российских истребителей МиГ-29. Выпущенная в 1989 году компанией Codemasters, она имеет привлекательную графику и насыщенный действием сюжет.
Как можно догадаться по названию, игроку предстоит управлять самолетом. Поскольку игра в большей степени аркадная, то и управление самолетом очень простое – вверх/вниз и вправо/влево. В качестве вооружения используется пулемет, который с легкостью позволяет подавлять цели. Графика псевдотрехмерная, игрок смотрит самолету в хвост, а издалека приближается вражеская техника. Такое решение позднее стало стандартом для подобных игр.
Самолет взлетает с земли, и начинается бой. Всего в игре четыре уровня – лесистая местность, пустыня, арктическая местность, океан. Впрочем, различаются они только цветом поверхности земли, да количеством врагов. Необходимо очень проворно перемещаться по экрану, чтобы не стать жертвой снарядов. Время от времени на парашютах спускаются призы – патроны, топливо, иногда водородные бомбы. Последняя может выручить в сложной ситуации, достаточно нажать «огонь» и все враги на экране уничтожаются.
По мере сбора призов, уровень возможного бонусного оружия увеличивается, что показывается на приборной панели снизу. Можно либо копить на все более мощное вооружение, либо нажать «пробел» и активировать оружие. Номер под каждым оружием показывает, сколько патронов/снарядов к нему осталось.
В конце каждого уровня необходимо уничтожить «босса» — большой вертолет типа Apache. Лично нам кажется, что вертолет в реальной боевой обстановке не может составить хоть сколь значительную угрозу МиГу, но в игре придется попотеть, чтобы уничтожить вертолет. После этого предлагается пройти небольшой бонусный уровень – собрать призы, спускающиеся на парашютах.
В целом игра выполнена на хорошем техническом уровне, а заставка с взлетающим самолетом порадует даже бывалых «спектрумистов».
Напоследок несколько советов:
- вертолеты можно сбить только ракетами с тепловым наведением;
- необходимо собирать спускающееся на парашютах вооружение;
- следите за уровнем топлива. Для его пополнения собирайте соответствующие бонусы;
- указатель от S до F показывает, сколько осталось лететь до конца уровня;
- быстро перемещайтесь по экрану, чтобы враг не смог захватить самолет в прицел;
- на бонусном уровне собирайте парашюты с буквой «B».

Code Masters
Strap yourself into the cockpit of the latest Soviet
fighter - the MiG-29 Fulcrum - and prepare for the most
amazing combat experience of your life.
You'll have to be quick to choose from the sophisticated
weaponry at your disposal, arm it and then lock on your
target and FIRE! Use bombs and ground attack missiles
on tanks and other vehicles, heat seeking air-to-air
missiles on enemy planes and a nuclear warhead when the
going just gets too tough!
All the time you're doing this you've got to duck and
weave thru the enemy fire and watch out for the anti-
aircraft guns - you've gotta be better than good -
you've gotta be the BEST!
CONTROLS
This game is compatible with KEMPSTON interfaces
and SINCLAIR ports 1 and 2. You can also play using
keys if you go to the DEFINE KEYS option on the start
menu. To select any option, just press the appropriate
number key.
Press 0 to start the game.
Press BREAK to pause the game - you can then press 1
to continue or 2 to abort your mission.
GAMEPLAY
You have several different weapons at your disposal.
During the game press the space key to arm the
next weapon on the indicator. The number below each
weapon shows how many you have left - when it hits
zero then you've run out, but you can always pick up
more from the supply parachutes.
Nuclear warheads can be picked up occasionally from
supply parachutes - they have H (for Hydrogen Bomb)
on them for identification. When you have a H-Bomb,
press FIRE to drop it and it will destroy all visible
enemies.
HINTS AND TIPS
* Helicopters can only be shot down with heat-seeking
missiles (the third set of weapons).
* Fly into falling supply parachutes to pick them up.
* Be sure not to run out of fuel. Watch your fuel gauge
and pick up fuel parachutes to be sure.
* Watch your distance indicator to see how far thru a
level you are. (The gauge with S at the start and F at
the finish.)
* Duck and weave so that the enemy don't have a
chance to lock their sights onto you.
* Pick up the B parachutes for bonus points on the
BONUS LEVELS.
David and Richard Darling first started writing computer
games when they were in their early teens and still at
school. They duplicated the cassettes themselves and
sold them by mail order, taking small advertisements in
magazines.
From these beginnings David and Richard became
contract programmers. They wrote and sourced games
for major software houses, and many of these games
were major best sellers.
In October of 1986 the Darling's set up CodeMasters, their
own company. From the beginning they were determined
to sell only the best possible games at the lowest possible
price. One title, BMX SIMULATOR, went on to become
one ot the worlds best selling games.
In less than a year, CodeMasters had a string of Top Ten
hits to its name. The company was the best selling
software house in Britain. David and Richard are now 22
and 21 years old, and are determined to continue what
they do best; producing top selling computer games.
